Good Sam Road Trip Planner
Here it is, the middle of summer. We’ve already taken the family on the “Summer Vacation” to the beach. But I still really want to take the RV out a few more time before football season starts but I’m just not sure where to go. I sort of want it to be fairly close to home because I don’t have a lot of time, yet I want it to be far enough away so that it “feel” like a mini vacation.
If you are in the same boat as me, may I suggest checking out the newest camping tool from Good Sam? If you go to this site http://trips.goodsamclub.com you’ll be able to search for places to go, camping spots – Good Sam, Private and public campgrounds and you can even click a toggle that will give you all the available things to do in the area.
Say you want to get away within two hours of your house? First you’ll want to click on “Create a Trip” this will prompt you to fill in where you’re starting – so in my case ,my home address. Then it asks where do you want to go? There is a map so you can look to see what looks interesting – Let’s say New Hampshire. Hey I’ve never been there so I want to check it out.
Once the map comes up with the route showing how long it will take to get to your desired location, then you can begin checking out what is nearby. Lets start with camping, after all you have to sleep somewhere – right? If you click all the buttons you’ll get a lot of little bubbles so start with Good Sam Parks. Pick one – any one, the name of the park will come up and on the bottom right corner there will be a tiny i – click on that for more info. That will link you to the parks website. Pretty cool huh?
Now that you know where you’re staying, you’ll need to find some things to do. Lets say you like history, just click on the things to do button, from here you’ll have lots of choices. Since we want to search history, you’ll click on the history and heritage button. Flags will come up all along your route. Click on a few and add them to your trip as possible stops. Maybe you’re into UFO’s and Bigfoot – hey don’t be ashamed. You can click on the quirky and oddball button and flags will come up for all the offbeat attractions along your route. There are also buttons for arts & music, shopping, sports etc.
Now that you know where you’re going, where you’re staying and what you’re going to do while you’re there you have no excuse not to go. In fact, I think I’ll be going next weekend.
Don’t forget – here is the site: http://trips.goodsamclub.com. Enjoy!!!!
