A 525-foot lazy river surrounds the slides and beckons guests to leisurely float the day away. Kids will love the fun-filled interactive water play area with a tower of activities and a tidal wave of fun. The water park area also is home to Tranquility Beach, which offers unbelievable views of the blue Atlantic as you relax in comfortable Adirondack chairs. The management of Lakewood just continues to add fun. The resort is already filled with countless family activities, including indoor and outdoor tropical pools; an 18-hole miniature golf course; pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and bicycles; basketball, volleyball and bocce ball; lakes for fishing and, of course, a half-mile of beautiful beach for sunning or strolling.

Oceanfront camping!!No need to go hungry with all the eateries available. The Coffee House features specialty coffees both hot and iced; teas and tea based drinks, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, muffins, scones and other delicious bakery items, plus free Wi-Fi as you snack. The Stage Door Sub Shop and Snappy Zappy’s Big Red Trailer offer more tasty treats and new for this year, the Sandcastle Creamery with delicious shakes, sundaes and ice cream cones invites you in for a cool treat. The Trading Post has groceries, camping supplies and gift items, plus a snack bar for meals, snacks, ice cream and shakes.

The oceanfront Amphitheater is home to weekly Church Services, Kids Club and High Steppin’ Country, the longest running show on the Grand Strand, and other concerts including regularly scheduled gospel groups.

Lakewood Camping Resort, the first campground on the Grand Strand, has a very interesting 54-year history of pleasing guests. In 1959, Carl and Marion Perry developed a small 125-site campground, Camp Beachwood. That investment eventually led to the opening of Lakewood Camping Resort, at that time the only resort of its kind offering customers a resort experience for a fraction of the cost of staying in a hotel. Affordability and a focus on family values were the goal of Mr. and Mrs. Perry and that same set of values has been passed down to their children and grandchildren who continue to own and operate the campground.

Today the resort has grown to 1100 campsites, 105 rental villas and more than 790 park model villas owned by individuals from all over North America. With luxurious amenities spread across 200 acres of prime oceanfront real estate, Lakewood has grown to be one of the largest camping resorts in the world. This award winning mega RV Park was recognized as the Mega Park of the year for 2010-11 and received the “Best of South Carolina” Award in 2012-13 plus numerous other accolades, making it the choice for countless families that return year after year. You are invited to come and join the fun!
