Maxye & Lou Henry Historic Places & Landmarks, State & National Parks, Scenic Byways/Historic Routes, Holidays on the Road, Menu Planning & Cooking, Working From Home Writer-photographer team Maxye and Lou live in north-central Kentucky. They have traveled extensively in the United States and Canada and visited France, Italy, England and New Zealand. Maxye was an editor at Trailer Life, MotorHome, and Motorhome America magazines before becoming a full-time freelance writer. The couple have contributed to those magazines, as well as to the former Trailer Life Campground Directory, Highways, Woodall’s Tenting Directory, Coast to Coast, and most recently to Good Sam’s RV Travel and Campground Directory. They co-authored The Home Business Sourcebook and 101 Tips for Running a Successful Home Business. Maxye compiled Best Ever RV Recipes. Both Henrys are avid cooks; their Kentucky patio includes a wood-burning pizza oven. On the road, they are always on the lookout for regional dining experiences and recipe ideas. They frequent farmers’ markets, wineries, and artisanal food producers and often take cooking classes. Lou enjoys golf and nature photography. Maxye likes historical sites and antiquing.

Alabama Mardi Gras Comes to Kentucky

To escape winter in north-central Kentucky, we decided to head south to the Gulf Coast and chose an RV park near Gulf Shores, Alabama, for the month of January.
